Lexron 20 A PWM has a 20 A charging current for 12/24 V battery systems. The model and battery voltages are printed on the label on the unit.
A PWM charge controller regulates charging from the panel to the battery by switching it on and off, and protects the battery from overcharging. It pulls the panel voltage down to the battery voltage; the difference does not become charge. That is why PWM is the right choice for small, economical systems where the panel voltage is close to the battery voltage.
Panels and batteries are not included.

How is it connected?
The panel connects to the charge controller and the controller to the battery; the inverter and large loads are fed directly from the battery.

Connect the battery first
General rule: the controller is connected to the battery first and the panel last. Put a suitable fuse on the battery cable.

Connect the panel
Extend the panel cables with MC4 connectors; connect plus and minus to the controller's panel input the right way round.

Connect the loads
Connect the inverter directly to the battery. If the controller has a load output, use it only for small DC loads such as lighting.
Installation tips
- Mount the controller close to the battery in a ventilated, dry place.
- Keep the battery cable short and thick; long thin cable causes voltage loss.
- If you will use a lithium battery, send us its charging values before ordering.

With PWM the panels' total short-circuit current (Isc) must stay below the controller current with 25% headroom.

If the panel voltage is close to the battery voltage (for example a 12 V-class panel on a 12 V battery), PWM is economical and sufficient. If the panel voltage is well above the battery voltage (like the 285 W and 655 W panels in our shop), MPPT collects more energy from the same panel; in that case look at our MPPT models.
With PWM the limit is the panels' short-circuit current (Isc). The general rule is to leave 25% headroom: on a 20 A controller the panels' total Isc should be at most about 16 A. The panel voltage should be close to the battery voltage; for high-voltage panels choose MPPT.
In series wiring the limit is set by the controller's maximum panel input voltage, which is not in the product information we have. Send us the Voc of the panel you will use and we'll check the layout together before you order.
